Peter’s Perspective, Spring 2026 Edition

Spring has begun its glorious transformation, and our property is flowering with vibrant colour. Daffodils, tulips, and narcissus are blooming, as well as red Japonica and Forsythia. I recently cut the lawn and bought fresh gas for the mower. Ouch, the price of fuel is ridiculous.

Angela and I even found time to mulch our garden at the driveway entrance. It’s such a wonderful patch of brilliant coloration we enjoy when arriving at home.

I have had a busy April and May with various book signings at Indigo Newmarket and the Cambridge store. I spoke with many interesting people who enjoy reading my books.

April was poetry month, and Angela and I appeared at the Orangeville Public Library on April 19th to share poems with our friends. Thank you to Patricia Gallant for organizing that event.

Also, on April 23rd, the Gibson Centre in Alliston hosted another poetry night which was organized by Kim Burgess from the New Tecumseth Public Library. We had over 65 people in attendance!

The very next evening, our core poetry group gathered at Shelburne Public Library for more poetry. This venue was arranged by Brian Burns, and library manager Shannon McCrady. Louise Burns provided her baking skills and there were loads of cookies and sweets on hand.

In early May, we joined an old friend for dinner and enjoyed Mimi O’Bonsawin’s music. She is an indigenous French-Canadian Abenaki who won solo artist of the year Trille Or Award. Our friend Patrick was involved with the organising of the concert and brought Mimi’s talent to my attention. We were fortunate enough to arrive early and got front seats. I hope you have a chance to hear her perform.

On May 15th Angela and I attended Bony Blithe Mini-Con. This is a day of learning and sharing with other authors. Angela was moderating, and I was among others as a panelist. We discussed “AI for Authors: Good or Bad?”. We also had four other panels discussing genre, research, inspiration and pivoting. It was a great meeting of the minds along with plenty of excellent snacks and lunch.

When we are not gardening or writing we enjoy theatre. We attended Stratford Festival with friends to see the “The Importance of Being Earnest.” The play by Oscar Wilde is hilariously funny and thoroughly enjoyable. We had lunch at Bentleys on the Main Street. A good place to eat before a performance.

During a miserable rainy day on May 23rd, we arrived at the Aurora Cultural Centre to view the latest art exhibitions. We met with the Ashlyn Gregory, the Interim Gallery Manager and Adora Lau, the Gallery Coordinator, as we prepared for the Ekphrastic poetry session. Several of us presented our poems in this beautiful and creative atmosphere. It might have been rainy outside but the mood was upbeat and buoyant as many wonderful poems were delivered that day.

Behind the scenes I have been busy writing Measure of Morality. We are currently involved in the process of making an audiobook of my first novel Outfoxed. Our timetable is to have the third book and the audiobook ready for release by September.

I hope you can wait till then! I must admit, I can hardly wait to share these new releases with you!

On another note, here is our schedule for future book signings:
